The Start - 12th May 2009

This blog is about a 4 day walk to the source of the river Wyre from Knott End near Fleetwood in Lancashire to the fells in the Forest Of Bowland an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty .
The walk began this morning from Stannah carpark at the Wyre Countryside Centre in Thornton. The group gathered at 9am for a short illustrated talk about the route from Duncan Byrne the Countryside Warden and organiser of the Garstang Walking Festival. It was a fine blustery morning and 16 eager walkers left the centre bound for Knott End in a minibus, to return to the carpark after their first day walking.
