A foot in river!

We walked to the confluence of the rivers Marshaw and Tarnbrook just before we picked up the minibus for our return to Garstang and the end of Day 3. A very enjoyable day, many thanks to all who made it possible.

A lovely sunny morning to begin the four day walk.

The Start - 12th May 2009

This blog is about a 4 day walk to the source of the river Wyre from Knott End near Fleetwood in Lancashire to the fells in the Forest Of Bowland an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty .
The walk began this morning from Stannah carpark at the Wyre Countryside Centre in Thornton. The group gathered at 9am for a short illustrated talk about the route from Duncan Byrne the Countryside Warden and organiser of the Garstang Walking Festival. It was a fine blustery morning and 16 eager walkers left the centre bound for Knott End in a minibus, to return to the carpark after their first day walking.
